The missions of San Antonio recall a time in Texas’ history when the church and Spanish influence held sway. This work captures the dignity and vibrancy of that time. Part of a series of Texas State Parks settings.

Gardens of Capri

The Island of Capri basks in that distinctive Mediterranean light that seems to give everything it touches an intensity that affects all the senses. I did this scene in both watercolor and oil and its hard to choose a favorite.

Mykonos Beachfront

Greece shares the intense Mediterranean light with its neighbors but I think there is more of an overpowering edge to it than in Italy. In this Mykonos scene I took some liberties, eliminating  some newer structures to focus on the Greek Orthodox church at waters edge.

Arlecchino

Being a fan of the theatre and my attraction to Italy it is not surprising that I am drawn to Commedia Dell Arte, another of Renaissance Italy's many contributions to the arts. This piece is an exploration of a commission completed last year (see archives).
