Working the Hatch I like to fly fish. One reason my Colorado studio is in Lake George is the fact that the South Platte River runs by my front deck. Eleven Mile Canyon winds down from the dam not fifteen minutes from my door. Painting a fisherman trying to tease a trout out of these waters is almost as much fun as doing the fishing....almost. Sunlit Steps Cafe' Blue Lunch at Cafe' Blue on Lake Travis with my wife and a friend provided a bonus as we came across stone steps illuminated by sunlight streaming through the trees. One of the things I love about what I do is that you can find beauty in the most unexpected places and when you least expect it. Its one of the reasons I try to carry a camera with me at all times! Mykonos Beachfront Greece shares the intense Mediterranean light with its neighbors but I think there is more of an overpowering edge to it than in Italy. In this Mykonos scene I took some liberties, eliminating some newer structures to focus on the Greek Orthodox church at waters edge. Oil on Board 32 x 24 $3,100 |

Red Mountain Meadow With a studio in Colorado, I find a great deal of inspiration in the mountain scenes one sees around every bend in the road. My wife and I recently hosted a plein air paint out with Austin's Waterloo Watercolor Group. I was attracted to this scene while on our field trip to Cripple Creek. Using the studies I collected it was painted, in oils, back in my Austin, Texas studio. Oil on Canvas 16 X 20 $1,280 |
