Low Tide Last year's major trip was to New England and Northeast Canada and if you've been tracking my art blog at www.joeblanfordart.wordpress.com you have seen the influence of that trip. Here is the latest adddition to the Nova Scotia Series. Peggy's Cove was a special place. The weather and light was beautiful with lots of contrast but I would love to visit at other times in the year. A foggy day or snow on the ground would change the mood so much. Sunlit Steps Cafe' Blue Lunch at Cafe' Blue on Lake Travis with my wife and a friend provided a bonus as we came across stone steps illuminated by sunlight streaming through the trees. One of the things I love about what I do is that you can find beauty in the most unexpected places and when you least expect it. Its one of the reasons I try to carry a camera with me at all times! Mykonos Beachfront Greece shares the intense Mediterranean light with its neighbors but I think there is more of an overpowering edge to it than in Italy. In this Mykonos scene I took some liberties, eliminating some newer structures to focus on the Greek Orthodox church at waters edge. Oil on Board 32 x 24 $3,100 |

Lick Creek Falls I had an opportunity to visit the Sharplin Ranch in the Texas Hill Country for an all day plein aire session. With the rains the Hill Country has recieved in early 2010 the creeks and rivers are running again revealing scenes like this along Lick Creek. Oil on Panel 11 X 14 $600 |
