Training
Joseph Blanford was born in Southern California and was trained at the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Fine Arts where his focus was on painting and sculptural ceramics. He has also studied in Italy, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas.
Approach
Mr. Blanford is drawn to a classical approach to composition and the treatment of light. Using a contemporary, vivid palette and a fresh view of the beauty that surrounds us, his paintings capture a sense of space and atmosphere, revealing the emotion and mood of the moment.

Taking his inspiration from members of the Barbizon School and the Impressionists that followed, his paintings hang in private collections across the United States and have won numerous awards in juried competition. Mr. Blanford was awarded Signature Status by the Texas Watercolor Society
Mr. Blanford resides in and maintains a Studio, Lazy B Atelier, in Driftwood, Texas where he accepts students and occassionally holds workshops
